I think a tenant downstairs has a dog now. It’s either a new tenant with a preexisting dog, or an old tenant with a new dog. You’re not allowed dogs in these buildings and, once you experience how often and loudly this one barks, you can’t help but respect that rule. The police were banging on the guy’s door yesterday morning, although I’m not sure why. Whatever it was about, they wee happy to just wander off when the guy didn’t respond. They did poke through his letterbox though. I wonder if he’s a suicide risk or something. The neighbour to my side, “Angry Game Boy”, is not reacting well to the barking dog at all. I think it’s the flat directly below his, so that can’t be fun. Perhaps it’s temporary, especially if the guy keeps having run-ins with the authorities. FYI I’m pretty sure the tenant is male, as I’ve heard him wrangling the unruly mutt into the building, and he doesn’t sound very nice. What is it with douchebags and cumbersome pets?!
I went out to the pharmacy today, which was pretty uneventful. It did, however, remind me how much I enjoy not being out there. There’s nothing out there for me anymore. Just uneven pavements and people who don’t respond when you say “Good morning!” at the bus stop.
Assholes.
Twelve years living on this estate and you start to realise why they call them “ghettos” instead of “communities”.
At least I managed to have a much-needed nap after my brief trip out. I’ve put a pot of coffee on to brew, which is now ready. I’m feeling in a slightly better mood than I was this morning, but still a little pessimistic. I’ve been trading amusing text messages with my old school friend all day. It’s nice that I’ve found someone with as dark a sense of humour as my own. Such a thing is very rare these days. People are too afraid to express themselves, especially on vile social media. Does this count as “social media”? I guess I could turn the comments off at any point, not that I ever get any. I think of YouTube as a video service with a social media element, rather than as wholly social media.
Interesting stuff, huh? Give me a break, I’m still waking up.
I finally powered up my music nook last night. It’d actually been so long since I played electric guitar that I forgot how to wire my pedalboard up. Well, it’s not technically a “board”, just a loose collection of pedals on the floor that are fed into an amplifier. I’ll sort out an actual board one day, I’m sure. At any rate, it was fun to rock out a little, even if it was with my own special brand of soft rock.
I might have a takeaway later but, considering the last few have been major letdowns, I might not. I’m actually tempted to get drunk again, as my nihilism is pretty rampant at the moment. I’ve only just managed to shake off the last one, so maybe not. Pretty sure the booze delivery guys are gonna start asking if I’m alright.
No, I’ll have to say. I’m sad.
I started playing the video game Aliens: Fireteam Elite last night. It’s generally a multiplayer thingy, but I managed to find out how to play solo with a team of AIs. I’m glad I did, as my eyesight reacted very poorly to it, so my teammates had to do 90% of the work. Human teammates would not have tolerated me. I’ve turned all messages and friend requests off on my PlayStation anyway now, so I shouldn’t get any abusive contact from players. They still manage to find ways of venting their frustration on you though. Meh. Fuck ‘em. I wish someday they’d come out with a chilled open-world game set in the Alien universe, as I love it so much. Even though Fireteam Elite isn’t my kind of thing in general, I just loved being in there with its particular visual and sound design. Like when people ask “The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?”, if someone asked me “Star Wars or Star Trek?”, I’d have to answer “Aliens”.
You know, because I’m a dick.
Oh a crowdfunding thing I coughed up £50 for about ten years ago is finally sending out its perks. The money was for a documentary about Michael Mann’s early film The Keep, which I remember fascinating but scaring the shit out of me when I was little. I just thought it’d be fun to contribute, but then came to assume the perks had gone astray in the post somehow. But, nope, they’re on their way now after all these years. Crazy days! I’ll have to keep (no pun intended) an ear out for the postman for a while, I guess. Our current postman is hardly stealthy, as he enters the building each morning by kicking the main door in. Pretty sure that’s against the law, but whatevs.
Well, I best go drink coffee and decide what to do with the rest of the day. If you don’t hear from me for a few days, then you know what I settled on.
Do stay in touch, darlings.
Toodles!
