Well, the heating and hot water seems to be back on. For now. Not that I’m a pessimist or anything. The boiler repair guys were in and out within minutes (typical men!), although they did say my current boiler needs replacing. Sigh. That means more workmen traipsing through my home. It’s actually hard work being a council tenant. Apparently, somebody’s going to call me at some point to arrange the fitting of the new boiler, but I’ll try to delay that presumably long-ass day as best I can.
Oh I finally rearranged my music nook yesterday, which took forever. My concern with the old layout was that it was very dark, cluttered, and claustrophobic, with amplifiers sitting out that didn’t need to be sat out. I also wanted room for that new guitar rack, another of which I believe there’s now room for. The amps are all still there, just unplugged and crammed in the corner, but easily accessible for when I fancy swapping over. Humping and dumping heavy wooden boxes should provide much-needed exercise for me.
Behold!
Here’s the old layout…
…and here’s what I did yesterday…
…exciting, huh?! Oh, well, whatevs. I’m happy with it and proud that I got something practical done. It does seem to be important to shake your home up every now and then. It feels like going on holiday, only without the stress of actually going on holiday. That “Total Recall” thing I tried out just wasn’t for me.
You may also notice that the new guitar is in shot too. Yes… I cracked. My excuses were a) I was concerned that the box may have been stood the wrong way up, potentially damaging the instrument’s neck b) considering it’s a low-end guitar, it may have turned out to be a let down once I do finally open it and c) I needed cheering up after a week of suffering one disaster and another.
So there.
So… what now? Well, I still do need to pick up that medication, but it’s not a major priority, therefore I’m tempted to reward all my hard work over the past few days by getting completely arseholed. I’m feeling very downbeat about my sleep pattern at the moment, so a couple of days of passing out drunk should do me good. Unless it kills me. Either way, I’ll get some rest. Plus it’s another great way of getting away from it all without having to pack any bags and sit of filthy public transport.
Right, time to go for the first mo’flpping bath I’ve had in days. This is going to feel sooooo good!
If you get that reference, please marry me.
Do stay in touch, darlings.
Toodles!
P.S. The council called while I was proof reading the above and they’re going to come out Monday to do the survey for the new boiler. They were prepared to come out tomorrow, but I was all like “I’m a bit busy this week”. Ha! If only they knew “busy” meant “drunk”. Let’s do this…
