A new arrival

So my new Telecaster turned up a day early, which was a wonderful treat! I was on the exercise bike when the intercom buzzed though, which nearly caused me to injure myself “leaping” off. There were two delivery guys, who I tried the whole “bored housewife” schtick on. They did not appreciate it. I was just in a dressing gown too. And sweaty. Both of which I’m sure didn’t help matters.

Oh well, they’ve probably seen worse.

Anyway, the instrument that came is lovely! It needs a setup, plus the high E needs sorting out, as it’s doing that weird buzzing thing that a lot of high Es do. I believe Keith Richards just takes his off, which I can well understand. I’ve not bothered flattening the boxes this time, as there was so much paper padding in there that I may as well just take the whole thing down as it is to the wheelie bins for collection. I’m sure they’ll figure out what to do with it.

I’ve just put some homemade chips/wedges/whatever in the oven. I’ve not bothered with too much seasoning this time, as that seems to make stuff stick to the pan. I’m really far too lazy to be soaking things for days on end.

I made a lovely recipe this afternoon, although I’m not sure what to call it. It was meant to be a simple Asian-style pork stir fry, but I added the remains of one of the premixed seasonings I bought for the above chips. This seasoning was a sort of smoked fajita flavouring, so it gave the stir fry a Spanish/Mexican vibe. Very nice! I may have the rest of it with couscous tomorrow, instead of noodles again.

I had an unintentional break from the exercise bike yesterday, due to my firing up the electric guitar kit for the first time in months. That seemed to supply me with the rush of endorphins the bike has been providing me with. I was back on today though, pedalling along to that The Bends-era Radiohead playlist again. I’m glad I’m keeping up with all this. It really is helping my mood levels.

I’m still in touch with my old school friend, although I’ve started to notice his reticence to reply to messages at the weekend. I think he’s far too busy doing husband and father stuff. Saying that, I’ve even known single people to go quiet over Saturdays and Sundays. Hmmm, maybe they’re not the talkative drunks that I am.

Speaking of which, I’ve not drank any alcohol since last Sunday. I’ve not banned myself, it’s just not in my new “positive attitude regime”. I guess I shouldn’t call it a “regime”, as that’s a bit negative. Outlook? Mindset? Oh I’ll have a think.

I’m definitely not sticking to the “going out” part of the reg… erm… mindset. I just can’t take people anymore, even strangers I’m simply overhearing in public. I’m genuinely concerned that I’m going to start verbally lashing out at them, like a crazy person. You know, a proper crazy person. The sort that social media has now been flooded with.

Oh yeah, I’m totally sticking to not being on social media. I’m really enjoying that part. You don’t need it, people. Shut your accounts down and don’t give them your money. The smartphone and monetisation has ruined the internet for good. Pick up a book. Play an instrument. Have big, sticky, sweaty, filthy sex. Anything but giving those awful social media AKA human showroom people the attention they so droopingly crave.

That reminds me, please like and subscribe to this blog and contribute to my crowdfunding campaign.

Just kidding.

Can you imagine?! As if one needs money to type a few words into a blog. They’ll convince you they do though. They’re good at that.

I think it’s nearly time to turn over the chips. I’m in the middle of watching Howl’s Moving Castle. The titular Howl is much more sympathetic in Japanese. You know, when he’s not being voiced by Christian Bale. I’m sure the conversation with the Disney casting director went like this:

“So, do we want somebody famous to voice this role, or somebody likeable?”

“How about Christian Bale? He’s hot right now.”

“Famous it is!”

I still think of him as the cute kid from Empire of the Sun. Sigh. Puberty has a lot to answer for.

Speaking of war torn drama, I’ve started on a new creative writing project based loosely on the Russian Revolution. I’ll be making up my own Eastern European country eventually, but I’m sticking to Russia as the framework for now. I’m curious to see where this leads. I don’t think it’ll be particularly long, so perhaps I’ll pluck up the courage to post it here somewhere.

I’ll have a think.

Do stay in touch, darlings.

Toodles!
