I’m just letting my tummy settle, before going for my afternoon siesta. I rose at around 10 am this morning, so I think I’ll have some fight left in me after a nap.
To cut a long story short, I just had an epic cooking session.
Now here’s the long version…
I made that kimchi, which is a popular Korean dish, so I hear. My version was very similar to my Beef & Paneer Citrus Sensation, only without the paneer and chopped tomatoes, but with carrots (because I had some that needed using up) and cauliflower leaves (the cauliflower itself was roasted and consumed yesterday). I’d have added radish too, but I didn’t realise the recipe called for them. This was improvised, after all. Also, I think I’d forgotten radishes even existed.
Behold!
Well, the final result was pretty damn intense. I took the concept of “sweet & sour” and removed the “sweet”. So, yeah, it was pretty damn sour & sour.
Ah, dude.
There are two extra portions leftover to go in the freezer. In fact, I think I’m going to have to have a week where I don’t make any new recipes, instead just using up my ever-growing frozen leftover stock.
Some DVDs have just arrived, which’ll be fun to have a look at later. I’ve bought Battleship Potemkin, Fanny and Alexander, and the 1996 Alan Rickman-starring Rasputin TV movie. Greta Scacchi’s in there too! And you now how much I love a bit of Greta.
Now there’s a sexy first name! Makes me think of cabbages.
How are you liking all these italics? Good, I’m glad.
Well, as you can probably tell, I’m feeling a lot better today. I did struggle for sleep last night, as I always do, but got here in the end around 5 am. It’s important to note at this point that I actually went to bed at 9 pm, which is not the same as falling asleep. Sigh. I even went on the exercise bike this morning, which has left me on something of a high. I even swept the kitchen floor, in preparation for its annual (“yeah right”, huh?) wet cleaning. I think that’ll be a job for tomorrow.
Right, I think that’s all for now. I reckon my food has safely descended , so I best go lie down and listen to some rockin’ beats.
Do stay in touch, darlings.
Toodles!
