So, after almost a week of hardcore drunkenness, I’m about back to “normal”. Saying that, I did cook with wine today, so I am feeling a little groggy from that.
The festive nightmare is starting to weigh on me quite heavily. I may have to order some crap for myself as yet another treat. You do tend to treat yourself a lot when you suffer from depression.
The above dish I made was my signature Portuguese Pork Vindaloo, a hybrid of the titular red-hot Goan curry and its original Portuguese namesake/influence Carne de Vinha d’Alhos. So yeah, all he fragrant spices of the East, combined with the fart-inducing root vegetables of the West.
Plus a fuck-ton of red wine, although that was from Australia, but whatevs.
I used my old-school cooking pot this time, instead of the wok. My recipes have been creeping a little too close to the wok’s lip of late, so I thought I’d literally dust of the pot for safety reasons. I made the right decision, as the vindaloo was a big one.
I’ve been listening to more of the works of that Professor Eric H. Cline (the dude I said sounds like James Cameron), who is a very entertaining historian mainly concerned with Ancient Greece. It’s nice when you find someone to vocally tuck you in at night.
Yes, I said “tuck”.
I seem to be disappearing into ancient, foreign lands again. It is a good escapism, I must say. Especially if you loath modern life and where you live. Not that I’m an bitter, hateful, misanthropic swine, but I hate everything right now.
Umm, yeah, that’s kind of it. Full-blown, full-time, mind-rotting alcoholism doesn’t provide much of note to talk about, I’m afraid. I’ll try and stay sober until New Year’s Eve, but I can’t guarantee anything. Hopefully my next post will be a little more upbeat, but I can’t guarantee anything there either.
Oh my lesbo friend texted me for the first time in ages. I thought she’d finally phased me out, but I guess she’s still interested.
Weather’s been a bit miserable.
Noisy neighbours.
Bad sleep.
You know the drill.
See you on the other side, little helpers.
Baubles!
